When planning a VBAC/HBAC you need to first read, read, and read some more. Only then will you get to make a fully informed choice in respect of your birth plans. If you have not already started, please do look at these—if you have anything to add—please do contact me, I am always happy to add more research. Mand xx |

These are all websites I would recommend to anyone looking for good evidence based information:
http://www.homebirth.org.uk/ This site is an excellent start to find good evidence, don’t be put off by ‘homebirth’ as a lot of the information is equally relevant to hospital births as well. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ukvbachbac/ http://www.caesarean.org.uk/index.html When researching your VBAC or HBAC these sites/forum has a mix of Midwives, Doula’s and women like yourself looking for information. Anecdotal evidence in bucket loads, successful birth stories and pitfalls you could avoid. http://www.independentmidwives.org.uk/ This is the national site for IM UK, for which I am affiliated. Find an IM in your area, ring and have a chat. http://www.aims.org.uk/ These are the people that can help you get what you want from the NHS, a wealth of experience and they will tell you your rights!
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1047180/the_lie_of_the_edd_why_your_due_date.html?cat=25 You are told you are ‘overdue’ read this first! http://www.scienceandsensibility.org/?p=3030 You are told you are ‘obese/too fat’ for home/water births, read this first! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health/c-section-not-best-option-for-breech-birth/article1186104/ You are told you have to have a CS as you have a breech presenting baby, read this to start! |
